Over the weekend, 92 teams from around Natchitoches, Louisiana competed in the USSSA Angels for Autism Super Regional tournament, an event with a cause to raise awareness for Autism.
The event started off strong with “Angels for Autism” ambassadors David Cole and Kayden Calvin throwing out the first pitch.
“This was an amazing event,” said Tournament Director Frank Griffin. “Our teams came out in full force to support this worthwhile cause. It was amazing to see all 20 teams that were scheduled to play the 8am games congregate around our featured fields to watch the first pitch thrown out by our incredible ambassadors. I want to thank Kayden and David for participating in this event and throwing out our first pitches. These two young men helped us kick off the event in style. I hope that we helped to raise awareness for Autism in our region and I can’t wait for this event in 2025.”
One of the teams who excelled in the tournament was 8 Open Gold Bracket Champions – Gold Culture Performance 8U from Shreveport, Louisiana.
The team defeated the LA Troopers from Frierson, Louisiana with a 7-3 victory to put the cherry on top an undefeated 5-0 performance in the tournament.
